Browser support

letter maps runs entirely in your browser, so what works depends on your browser. Here's the current picture.

What this means in practice

Auto-scroll works in every modern browser, including mobile. Voice-following relies on the browser's speech recognition, most reliable in Chrome and other Chromium browsers. On-device (offline) recognition is newest and currently needs Chrome 139 or later.

Frequently asked questions

Does voice-following work in Safari or Firefox?
Support is limited and less reliable than Chrome. For voice-following we recommend Chrome or another Chromium-based browser; otherwise use auto-scroll.
What do I need for offline, on-device voice?
Chrome 139 or newer, with on-device recognition enabled and the one-time language model downloaded.
Does it work on mobile browsers?
Yes — auto-scroll works on mobile, and voice-following works on mobile Chrome with microphone permission.
